“It is the decision of a political party. It is their business,” Prime Minister Maia Sandu said, commenting on Vlad Plahotniuc’s decision to leave the administration of the Democratic Party. She answered this way a question put at a news conference given after she had a meeting with a delegation of MEPs, IPN reports.
“We hope that we have only authentic political parties in the Republic of Moldova, where the thieves who committed abuses and illegalities do not have a place, particularly in the administration of parties,” stated Maia Sandu.
The delegation’s head Heidi Hautala said it is the decision of Vlad Plahotniuc how to represent his party, noting what was important was the positive discussion about the measures taken by the new government to implement the reform program.
On June 24, Vlad Plahotniuc announced that he decided to vacate the post of president of the Democratic Party. He wrote on Facebook that he suggested his party mates to organize the PDM’s congress as soon as possible so as to choose a new leadership and to approve a new political program. Vlad Plahotniuc noted he will not run for any post in the party at this congress.
