The joint candidate of the center-right opposition in the presidential elections Maia Sandu and supporters of her made a call to the voters to mobilize for the October 30 presidential elections. In a news conference, the candidate and her supporters said that if the people vote for Maia Sandu, they will contribute to the foundation of a new political class in Moldova, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu told the people it depends on them what President the Republic of Moldova will have and urged her supporters to communicate with friends, relatives and acquaintances so that these understand what the stake of these elections is. “I didn’t lie and will never lie. As a President, I promise to bring things in this political class in order. One step remained – to vote in elections. If we do not do this, our opponents will do it,” she stated.

Asked about her Socialist opponent Igor Dodon’s call to sign a public commitment to promise she will not form a coalition with the parties controlled by the first deity chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, Maia Sandu said she will sign no agreement with Dodon or with his master Plahotniuc.

Leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who withdrew from the race in favor of Maia Sandu, said all those who support him should go and vote for Maia Sandu. “We must be united so as to give a blow to the current government and the false opposition,” he stated.

Vadim Branzan, ex-aspirant for the office of President, who earlier announced his support for Maia Sandu, told the same news conference that everyone has personal and political ambitions, but it is now time for everyone to unite around one candidate. “Maia Sandu can cause the first fissure in the wall of corruption,” he stated.

Oazu Nantoi, Chisinau councilor and deputy head of the European People’s Party of Moldova, also declared his support for Maia Sandu, saying the protests mounted earlier must now lead to the election of the joint candidate of the center-right forces as President. “Maia Sandu is not the lesser evil, but is the only candidate in whom we can have confidence,” he said.

Actor Anatol Durbala said he is not a party member, but has a civic position and considers a valuable person means a lot in times of affliction. The people are desperate and are tired of voting, but should anyway go and vote because the elections are a chance to make a democratic change, without wars.
