President Maia Sandu sent a congratulatory message to the U.S. President Joe Biden on the occasion of his inauguration, IPN reports.
“In my name and in the name of the people of the Republic of Moldova, I express our hope that the United States will remain a close friend and partner of the Republic of Moldova so that we can successfully develop the political and economic cooperation between our countries and also the interhuman relations,” said President Sandu.
In two months and a half of the presidential elections, Joe Biden on January 20 was inaugurated as President of the United States. He is the 46th American president.
The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau said every four years, the American president is sworn in on January 20 in Washington before big crowds. But shoulder-to-shoulder crowds this year were replaced by American flags fluttering on the National Mall. Instead of the usual lineup of marching bands, there was a virtual parade that included performers from around the country. Authorities have scaled back the festivities to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
