MAE leader appears as injured party in phone tapping case

The leader of the European Action Movement Veaceslav Untila Monday was recognized to be an injured party in the criminal case concerning telephone tapping in 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The prosecutors said they will inform me when the investigation is completed and the case will be sent to court or closed,” Untila told the press after questioned at the Prosecutor's Office. “I was informed by the Prosecutor's Office that my phone had been also tapped, alongside the phones of other Moldovan politicians,” he said, adding he considers that the wiretapping was illegal. Earlier, Untila said that the telephone conversations of a number of MPs were listened to last summer in order to make them vote in a Communist President and there was evidence showing this. He also said that he does not want to be paid damages in the phone tapping case. “I want justice to be made. Those to blame should be held responsible. I will not ask for damages as there is enough poverty in Moldova,” Veaceslav Untila stated. The leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Serafim Urecheanu recently said that his phone was also tapped by the former government. Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase is also an injured party in this case.
