A poetry volume titled “Eternal Love”, which includes a selection of poems by Mihai Eminescu and Veronica Micle, was launched in Chisinau on the eve of Saint Valentine’s Day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Iurie Miron, director of the publishing house Lyceum, said the idea of publishing this book sprang to his mind several years ago, but he decided to put it into practice on Saint Valentine’s Day. The book contains 30 poems written in 1874-1877, when the two poets spent a period of time together. “The love between the two related in poems shows that you must love and praise this feeling,” said Iurie Miron.
Writer Claudia Partole said this poetic dialogue between Eminescu and Micle is a book for soul and an example for those who love.
The launch of the book gathered dozens of children who recited poems under the verses of Mihai Eminescu and Veronica Micle.
The book was printed in 2,000 copies and costs 15 lei. It is available from all the bookstores of Chisinau.
Mihai Eminescu and Veronica Micle got acquainted in Vienna in 1872, at the age of 22. Veronica was married and had two children. Without taking into account the moral hindrances, the two started a love affair that lasted for 17 years. Mihai Eminescu died on June 15, 1889. Veronica Micle killed herself 50 days after her lover’s death.
