The students of the branches of the Theoretical Lyceum “Orizont” (“Horizon”) marked the end of the school year by a concert at the Place of the Republic in Chisinau, where there were presented the results obtained during a year and the priorities for the next year of studies, IPN reports.
The lyceum’s vice director general Sedat Hasan Karagaoglu said “Orizont” started work in 1993 and during over 20 years the lyceum’s branches have worked for the Moldovan peoples’ benefit. The institution represents Moldova at the highest level, both in the country and abroad. So far the lyceum’s students have won over 4,000 medals at national contests and more than 900 medals at international contests. During the school year that came to an end, the students won six gold medals, nine silvers and 22 bronzes at international competitions and Olympiads.
As many as 99 twelfth-graders finish the Lyceum “Orizont” this year. A number of 139 students complete the ninth grade. “We wish our students success in the graduation exams, good health and good luck in the future studies and in life,” stated Sedat Hasan Karagaoglu.
Vice director of the “Orizont” branch in Durlesti town Elena Ciuhri said their lyceum this year is graduated by 24 students. The results achieved by the students during the school year are very good. They also won medals at Olympiads and form part of Moldova’s math squad. 50% of this year’s graduates will be exempted from the Baccalaureate exam in the foreign language and will receive the grade ‘10’ automatically. The lyceums “Orizont” now rank fourth in the municipality of Chisinau by the results achieved in the Baccalaureate exams.
As to the plans for the new school year, Elena Ciuhri said the optional subjects will be extended by including the subject “Economy” and the capacities of the primary classes will also be extended.
Director of the “Orizont” branch in Buiucani Ahmet Bilgi said the school year was a productive one and both the parents and the teachers are satisfied with the achieved results. Fifty-three students are graduating from the branch and most of them will also be exempted from the Baccalaureate exam in the foreign language. Next year the students will take part in a number of Olympiads, while the number of students will be increased from 369 to 410.
The Theoretical Lyceum “Orizont” has five branches – 3 in the municipality of Chisinau (Ciocana, Buiucani, and Durlesti), one in Ceadir-Lunga and another one in Balti. On September 1, there will be opened the fourth branch in Chisinau municipality, in Botanica district. During the first year, this branch will have only preparatory classes and first grades.
