Students at the “Natalia Gheorghiu” Lyceum in Chisinau’s Râșcani district were evacuated on Friday after a short circuit inside a distribution board caused a minor fire in the school canteen. No one was hurt.
Emergencies Inspectorate spokesperson Liliana Pușcașu has told IPN a firefighter company was dispatched to handle the fire. All the children were expeditiously evacuated by the teachers before the firefighters came.
The school’s principal Irina Bogaciuc said the students were allowed to go home after the incident. The school has been disconnected from the grid, but the problem will be fixed over the weekend so that students can return to classes on Monday.
