The Government may propose introducing a luxury tax on vehicles that cost more than €35,000. The head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita said the issue was discussed by MPs with representatives of the executive. Also, the excise duties on vehicles can be substituted with VAT, IPN reports.
“The excise duties on cars are a Moldovan know-how. Other countries do not have something like this. I hope that next year the Government will suggest introducing VAT on vehicles, as all over the worlds,” said Veaceslav Ionita.
Parliament on April 11 voted to increase the excises on vehicles with alternative spark-ignition piston engines and with the cylindrical capacity of over 3,000 cm3 and on vehicles with free-piston engine compressors and with the cylindrical capacity of over 2,500 cm3 from €2 to €3 per cm3.
