Luxemburg will support signature of Association Agreement with EU

Luxemburg will support Moldova so that it signs the Association Agreement with the EU this November, said Luxembourgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxemburg Jean Asselborn, who is in Chisinau on a working visit during January 22-23, Info-Prim Neo reports. Jean Asselborn told a news conference that his country is holding the presidency of Benelux and Luxemburg pledges to engage Moldova in the dialogue between the member states of Benelux. “Luxemburg understands the difficult past of Moldova and is ready to provide any type of support so that the country makes progress on the path to EU. The political stability will ensure this progress. Luxemburg will support Moldova so that it signs the Association Agreement with the EU by the Eastern Partnership Summit of this autumn,” said Jean Asselborn. Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca said that he and Jean Asselborn discussed the bilateral relations and Moldova’s successes. “I thanked Luxemburg for the financial support provided for combating trafficking in persons and fighting AIDS. Luxemburg will also offer financial assistance for a project to destroy pesticides,” said Iurie Leanca. Jean Asselborn came to Chisinau for the third time. The last time he visited Moldova three years ago.
