Postponing the implementation of the Third Energy Package by four years is the Alliance parties' common position, stated Speaker Marian Lupu, the president of the Democratic Party, at a talk show on the national television channel.
Marian Lupu revealed that at the latest meeting of the Alliance's Council particular attention was paid to the negotiations held in Moscow and Brussels on energy matters. “We discussed issues pertaining to the European integration agenda, including the Energy Package. We heard all the information on the subject in detail and we coordinated our positions, or more exactly, confirmed that we had a common position. I'd like to remark that this speaks well for the Alliance parties: we had a constructive dialogue within the Alliance on this essential matter”, stated Lupu.
At the same time, Lupu said that the Alliance's position on Moldova's participation in the European Energy Community remained unchanged.
The Speaker added that the postponement was discussed in Brussels and Moldova's entreaty can be considered as good as accepted.
Earlier, Dirk Schuebel, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, told an interview with Radio Europa Libera that a solution will be sought which allows Moldova to sign a new gas supply agreement with Russia. Ambassador Schuebel added that he has no doubt that Moldova will remain in the European Energy Community.
