Lupu asks ministers-MPs to quit legislative seat

The president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu called on the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration to take steps so that all the ministers who are simultaneously members of Parliament renounce the seat of MP, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on February 10, Lupu said such a move is needed in order to make the work of the government and the legislative body more efficient. Referring to the constitutional reform, the PLDM leader said a final decision will be taken after consulting experts of the Venice Commission. He stressed the Alliance will make its position on the issue public by end-February. Marian Lupu spoke about the priorities of the PDM, mentioning the ensuring of social cohesion, promotion of Moldova's image abroad, overcoming of the economic crisis, support for the business environment and improvement of the health insurance system. In this connection, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the attraction of investments and creation of new workplaces are high on the Economy Ministry's list of priorities.
