The participants in the consultations with the head of state, held with the aim of identifying a candidate for Prime Minister, will have discussions between them during two more days and are to propose a common solution next Monday, December 21, the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu stated after the consultations, IPN reports.

The Democrats’ leader noted that they cannot break the deadlock as to the mechanism for designating a candidate for premiership and forming the government. Each of the participants in the discussions insists on the positions announced in the previous consultations. The only mechanism that should be used now is the one that functioned during six years. This wasn’t proposed by the Democrats, but was accepted by them.

Marian Lupu said that at 2pm on December 21, they will continue the consultations. During the next two days, the representatives of the parties are to hold talks and reach a compromise and to present a common solution to the head of state. A last attempt will be made to reach a consensus and to designate a candidate.
