The Cabinet decided to allocate 2.1 million lei from the state budget to the councils of 14 districts and the Executive Committee of the ATU Gagauzia for the purpose of implementing the Government decision on the provision of lump sums to particular categories of people for building or purchasing homes or restoring old homes, IPN reports.
Lump sums will be provided to 43 persons who didn’t benefit from preferential home loans from banks, weren’t provided with homes by October 22, 2004 and do not possess relevant letters of guarantee issued by the local public authorities.
Among the categories of people who will get such assistance are the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup, family members of those who died as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear accident, participants in the Afghan war, participants in the war for defending the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova whose houses were destroyed, veterans of World War II and victims of political repression.
A sum of 7.8 million lei was budgeted for the purpose for 2017.
