The Russian company Lukoil is considering the possibility of diversifying operations in Moldova. This was announced by Lukoil president Vagid Alekperov at a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat in Chisinau, the Moldovan Government's press service reported.
Vagid Alekperov appreciated the Government's efforts to support foreign investors and expressed his conviction that the stimulation of political relations between Moldova and Russia will contribute to the intensification of trade and investment relations as well.
After his visit to Russia, Vlad Filat stated that the Moldo-Russian relationship is developing dynamically and has potential to extend to all areas of cooperation. The Prime Minister said that one of the main subjects addressed during meetings with Russia's leadership concerned energy issues. “The negotiations on a new agreement in the energy domain has to be comprehensive. We should discuss not just gas supply issues, but also the terms of transit, the settlement of the accumulated debt and others. To this end, we will further work to solve all the existing problems to reach consensus", said Filat.
Lukoil has been present in Moldova since 1995. Today Lukoil-Moldova is among the leading petroleum and liquefied gas providers on the Moldovan market.
