The Moldovan journalists most of the times exceed the limit and do not respect the right to private life of the politicians, the head of the Press Council Ludmila Andronic said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
“The politicians also have the right to private life. A large part of our journalists know no limits. There is the freedom of expression that allows the journalists to say things as they are, but the journalists should also have the freedom not to speak about many things,” stated Ludmila Andronic.
She noted that politicians’ children are the most affected. “The mass media often disseminate information about the schools where the children of politicians study and about their occupations. In some cases, the authors of the news items even criticize them, but these children bear no blame. Such situations can lead to tensions between politicians and their children,” said the Press Council’s head.
According to her, neither the politicians have a correct relationship with the mass media. “It’s clear that the politicians want nice things to be said about them and they seem ready to take a gun in their hands when they are criticized. The politicians yet make indecent and offensive comments about the journalists and even make use of physical strength,” stated Ludmila Andonic.
