The administration of Dubasari district ordered that farmers’ markets be held every Sunday. The prices of the vegetables and fruit sold at these fairs are much lower compared with the prices at the other markets, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent reports. A kilogram of beet can be purchased for 1 Transnistrian ruble (1.20 lei), as against 3 rubles at the district markets (3.60 lei). Tomatoes, sweet peppers and other vegetables are twice cheaper. Dubasari farmers consider that the fairs will influence the prices at the other markets in time. Fodder also got cheaper given that the grain harvest in the district this year was the largest in the last six years – 43,000 tonnes. The wheat price fell about twofold, down to 1.5 Transnistrian rubles (1.80 lei). Igor Mazur, the president of the Dubasari public administration, instructed that the vegetable growers are additionally allocated by 5 hectares of land for cultivation the next agricultural year.
