[- The CIS mission of observers believes the elections have been democratic. But were they fair?]
- The elections have been free and this term is equal to fair, in my opinion.
[-- How do you assess the work of the Moldovan televisions during the electoral race?]
- In general, it was normal. Each party had the opportunity to present itself. I have watched different channels, I saw the statements of all of them. In my opinion, there have been no obstacles for the political parties to express their views. I have heard opinion as different as possible. That is why, I positively appreciate the work of the media in covering the positions of the electoral contestants during the race.
[-- Some parties have announced they may ask for early elections? Do you think they have proofs enough to do so?]
- Our commission sees no reason to hold repeated elections. We don't have facts to assert that the elections would have been rigged or cannot be recognized as legal. As far as I know, neither the OSCE representatives have made such statements. I think Moldova now needs calmness. We must learn to lose, and we don;t manage to do so here in the CIS space. Look what's happening in the West. The loser recognizes his defeat, and in several hours after the results are announced, he phones the winner and congratulates him.
