“Longing for freedom” -- new book by Ala Mandacanu

The best articles, interviews and sketches by journalist Ala Mandacanu have been compiled into a book titled “Dor de Libertate” (Longing for freedom), which was launched on Tuesday, June 24, in Chisinau. The compilation contains materials on issues related to identity, language, national dignity etc., published in publications from 2001to 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports. The work for the author is an attempt to express what she feels for the nation, for the Romanian language, culture. The book is an attempt to make people think of who they are and what they do for this people. “I'd like every single citizen to be free inside to be able to obtain this freedom for whole society,” Ala Mandacanu says. In her opinion, the freedom of a country is the feeling of freedom of every individual. According to writer Ion Hadarca, “Dor de Libertate” is a compilation of the most beautiful words gathered in the Basarabian space, ideas promoting responsibility, the freedom through knowledge. Pain because of or the thirst for freedom are illustrated on the pages of the book. “Dor de Libertate” will be distributed in the Pro Noi bookstores, yet the price has not been set as yet. The launch has been accompanied by a performance by singer Pavel Stratan and “Catharsis” band. Ala Mandacanu is the dean of the Journalism and Public Communication Faculty of the Free International University from Moldova, doctor of economics, a journalist, a UN expert in gender issues and a political analyst.
