The Republic of Moldova needs innovative ideas for the development of its infrastructure, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine. High-performance logistics can ensure transit from Ukraine, through Moldova, to Romania, respectively, throughout the European Union, said the director of the International Consortium "Implementation of Innovative Projects” Ion Rață.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, Ion Rață said that the Republic of Moldova remains a transit route to Europe for the large flow of goods from Ukraine. “Innovative proposals are needed for the development of logistics. We put up a temporary port on the Prut River and thus we can create an alternative to the monopoly, we can help transport grain and other goods on the Prut. It is a small point, but the development of logistics can start from it,” said the director of the International Consortium “Implementation of Innovative Projects”.

Ion Rață noted that the Republic of Moldova does not have enough bridges, railways to connect Ukraine and Romania. He gave the example of Poland, which at the beginning of the war requested €2 billion from the European Union for logistics, namely for railways, routes, etc. The inappropriate infrastructure is one of the vulnerable points of the Republic of Moldova.

“We know that all the transit countries were rich countries. Old Moldova, Ștefan’s Moldova had one of the highest revenues from transits. All the routes were then through Moldavia. And today we remained like an islet through which we cannot even pass by cart. That’s why I call on the leadership of the country, on the leadership of both countries – Moldova and Romania. It’s clear that this question exists, is circulated, but it has not acquired that accent of existence, of execution. There is money for investments. There are possibilities and methods of concession. In the field of infrastructure, Europe has always been ready to finance. We should knock on the door,” stated Ion Rață.

In another development, he referred to energy, which is one of the main components of industrialization. According to him, if you are able to capture and use cheaper energy, it means that you have the opportunity to produce and compete on the market.

Iuliean Horneț, an inventor from Romania, spoke about renewable energy, saying that in the last year he had at least five visits to the Republic of Moldova. In his opinion, the Republic of Moldova can become energy independent. “At this moment, I can assure you that the Republic of Moldova, through organic biomass and household waste, but also from the little fossil biomass, can produce fuel by co-incineration in the Hornet burners. This would ensure the total energy independence of the Republic of Moldova – both thermal and electrical,” stated the inventor.
