A locomotive and a railcar of a train running on the Chisinau-Ungheni route burned completely on Tuesday evening. It happened in the municipality of Ungheni while the train was moving. There were no passengers inside at that moment, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said the incident occurred on the roadway close to the railway terminal. Five firefighting vehicles were on the scene immediately.
The fire destroyed 70% of the locomotive and a railcar and also about 20 square meters of vegetation next to the railroad.
No one was hurt. An investigation is underway.
