Local youth councils will benefit from small grants

Twenty-seven local youth councils will receive small grants worth 300-700 dollars, distributed according to the results of a contest organized as part of the World Bank and UNICEF Youth Socio-Economic Empowerment Project (YSEEP), Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of Education and Youth, the YSEEP will finance profit and nonprofit projects that will benefit the community. The projects envision activities in a number of areas, including healthcare, environment protection, information technologies, mass media, communication, sport, active citizenship etc. Forty-nine projects have been proposed overall. The 27 beneficiaries were selected according to such criteria as the council’s capacities, motivation, expected results, implementation process and sustainability. The Moldova Youth Socio-Economic Empowerment Project is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Youth. It aims to strengthen the human and social capital and reduce poverty among young people by offering them possibilities of implementing positive changes in the communities.
