A number of taxes imposed in the municipality of Chisinau were raised. These include the taxes paid by owners of kiosks, gas stations and gaming halls. The draft decision on local taxes for 2016 was approved in the July 5 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
At the suggestion of the Socialist councilors, the tax for each fuel dispenser at gas stations in the municipality will be 21,000 lei, up from 10,000 lei now. The Socialist councilors said there are 215 gas stations in the municipality at present and this figure is much higher than that stipulated in the urbanistic plan. According to them, the rise in taxes will prevent the chaotic appearance of service stations in the city.
The same councilors also suggested increasing the tax for gaming halls from 100,000 lei to 190,000 lei a year. These said that about 160 such halls work in Chisinau and the municipal budget incomes will rise by about 15 million lei if this tax is increased. This money could be redirected to education institutions.
At the suggestion of the councilors of the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform - Iurie Leanca”, the taxes for ambulatory retail outlets were also raised. Thus, the owners of kiosks, stalls and booths, except for public toilets, will pay double taxes. Now the municipality collects over 1.8 million lei a year from owners of such retail outlets.
It’s not yet clear when the new taxes will take effect. Most probably, these will be used for the third and fourth quarters of 2016.
