A local referendum on the dismissal of mayor Mihai Cheibas will be held in Anenii Noi town on December 29. The plebiscite was initiated by a group of locals, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Central Election Commission.
Under the Election Code, the referendum is considered valid if the voter turnout is at least 1/3 of the people written on the electoral rolls.
The mayor will be dismissed if an equal or larger number of voters than those who voted for him in the elections give an affirmative response to the referendum question.
