Local power stations produced the last year approximately 957.7 million KWh of electric energy, or by 4.2% less then in 2005, when supplies constituted 999.8 million KWh, according to National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) data. All the stations registered a slight decrease in the volume of electrical energy output, except CET North which increased its indicators by 11.4%. As a result the share of energy delivered by local companies on the internal market of power deliveries reduced from 28, 8% in 2005 to 26.2% in 2006. Of the total of circa 3.6 bln KWh of purchased energy in the last year by the distribution companies and eligible consumers, circa 2.7 bln KWh were purchased from Ukrainian imports, and the rest from local power stations. Recently, as a result of the increase in price of gas, NAER decide to increase the charge for electric energy and heat energy produced by the power and thermal plants. Hence was approved an power charge of 86.63 bani/KWh for CET – 1, 67.86 bani/KWh for CET – 2 and 8.16 bani/KWh for CET – North. For heat energy produced by CET – 1 the approved charge is 322.92 lei/Gcal, and 241, 11 lei/Gcal for the one produced by CET – 2. Given these increases which are almost double to the previous charges, Union Fenosa Company will ask NAER to adjust the charges for electric energy delivered to consumers. UF is obliged to contract from Moldovan CET 70% of the total electric energy produced.
