The executive bodies of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) and the Association of Communes of Romania (AcoR) will hold a joint meeting in Chisinau on May 24. In the meeting, there will be constituted the Council of the Local Authorities of Moldova and Romania, IPN reports.
CALM spokeswoman Nadejda Sacovici said about 80 representatives of the local communities from both counties will take part in the signing of the constitution agreement. They will discuss future cooperation possibilities, joint activities and projects. Among the representatives of Romania will be the chairman of the Association of Communes Emil Draghici, while the Romanian diplomatic corps in Chisinau will be represented by Ambassador Marius Lazurca.
Within the Council, the authorities of the two countries will cooperate in such areas as decentralization and local self-government, in the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing the community and attracting investments.
According to the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, such partnerships will be also established with associations of the local authorities of Poland, Latvia, Norway, and Ukraine.
