The local elected officials must join forces to create a better life for all the citizens, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated in a meeting with mayors, councilors and representatives of deconcentrated services of Anenii Noi district. The official called on the mayors to participate in government programs, such as the European Village and the European Village Express, and also to develop their capacities to write and implement projects for the development of localities, IPN reports.

“We have an obligation to mobilize and build Europe at home, in every village and city. The Government has made an unprecedented leap in our relationship with the European Union and we must act in an accelerated way to demonstrate that we are capable of absorbing European resources for local development,” said Dorin Recean, being quoted in a press release.

During his visit to Anenii Noi district, the Prime Minister visited the kindergarten in Merenii Noi village, which was built through the European Village program, for which the Government invested about 10 million lei. It is to be attended by about 90 children.

Dorin Recean also went to the market in Gura Bâcului village, where, every Thursday, sellers come from neighboring localities and from the left bank of the Nistru River. The official discussed with the citizens the projects implemented by the authorities, the challenges faced by the people and the suggestions they have for the Government. The discussions also focused on the European integration process and the steps that the Republic of Moldova must take to achieve this goal.

Premier Recean said that the implementation of EU-funded projects already contributes to economic development and the creation of new opportunities for the citizens from both banks of the Nistru.

Gura Bâcului is part of the largest voluntary amalgamation project, together with Telița, Calfa and Roșcani. According to the Prime Minister, once united, these localities will create a single, more efficient public administration and will be able to benefit from more European funds in order to create good living conditions for the citizens.

The Prime Minister also visited a peasant farmstead that grows vegetables in the open field, such as carrot, onion, potato and beetroot, on an area of about 67 hectares in Gura Bâcului village.

Another visit was made to Mereni village, to a pastry shop with about 25 employees. The business was started ten years ago by a couple who worked in a pastry shop in Italy’s Parma, after which they returned to their native village. Premier Recean encouraged the owners to take the multiple business growth possibilities offered by the authorities. “The Government offers many opportunities to young entrepreneurs. All those who returned home, as well as those from here, can benefit from the programs of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development and the governmental program “373” to develop the entrepreneurial sector in the Republic of Moldova,'” said the official.
