Local authorities invite Chisinau residents to cleanup on March 31

The local public authorities of Chisinau aim to stage a cleanup event themed “Come on, Chisinau!” on March 31. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca urged the people to join the cleanup activities in the yards of apartment buildings and in parks, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on March 20, the mayor said that cleanup works will be performed on March 23 on the territory of medical institutions with the help of students, while on March 24 near the Byk River. The Buiucani district head’s office will deal with the cleaning of the Durlesti River, the Centru district head’s office will clean the Park “Valea Trandafirilor” until the Viaduct, the Botanica district head’s office – the area from the Viaduct until Decebal Blvd, while the district head’s offices of Rascani and Ciocana - Bucovna St. “A change of mentality is needed so that the people understand that the way the city looks depends greatly on them and they must keep it clean,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He also said that there will be awarded prizes for the cleanest yards in order to encourage the people to get involved. The prizes will consist in yard laying out works to the value of 100,000 lei. A contest of photos will be held for students. The best pictures taken during the cleanup will be awarded. Those who want to take part in the cleanup campaign on March 31 shall go to the district heads’ offices or the City Hall. They will receive T-shirts, gloves, sacks and tools.
