The City Hall’s Transport Division (DTCC) is prepared to handle potential abundant snowfalls. DTCC deputy head Alexei Varlan told the City Hall session held on Monday, February 5, that all the equipment and necessary amounts of anti-skid material are completely prepared. In order to meet requirements and ensure a proper traffic, DTCC stocked at the start of the cold season 16,000 cu m of anti-skid material and 870 tonnes of salt. Since the beginning of the cold season, Chisinau’s roads have been covered with 2.8 cu m of anti-skid material, therefore the municipality has enough reserves for the following period. According to Varlan, in case heavy snowfalls will occur, DDCC will request help from the Residential-Communal Division (DLCA): the first will clean the roads, and the latter will do the pavements. For the same purpose, 138 units of snow clearing machines have been prepared. At the beginning of the year the municipality purchased 20 new snowploughs from the SCHMIDT Company. The state and municipal budgets spent MDL 39 mln for this purpose. The new equipment is suited for all-season use, for cleaning road surfaces and pavements. The machines are managed by DLCA that will deploy 4 units in each district.
