Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Lino Linkevičiaus has wished the Moldovans to build a modern and prosperous country in a video address ahead of Moldova's Independence Day on Augusty 27.

“Dear people of Moldova,” he begins in Romanian, continuing in English: “Congratulations on the 25th anniversary of your independence. This is a great day for you, but also for us, your friends. Just recently the Association Agreement has entered into force, and it's already felt in the everyday life. GDP grows five percent each year due to access to the European markets. Also quite recently you enjoyed the start of free-visa regime. Maybe not everyone uses that, but I believe everyone will be able to use it in the near future”, says Lino Linkevičiaus.

The Minister notes that Moldova has a lot of challenges ahead, including the need to fight corruption. “Your future is in your hands. We are standing by your side, and not just standing but also trying to help you”, goes the address.

“La mulţi ani!”, ended Lino Linkevičiaus, wishing the Moldovans a happy anniversary.
