Lithuania provides National Army with thermal night vision devices and drones

Lithuania offers the Republic of Moldova a batch of thermal night vision devices and FPV drones. The announcement was made by Lithuania’s Minister of National Defense Laurynas Kasčiūnas, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatyi, IPN reports.

“Today we discussed the various areas where bilateral cooperation is possible and also today we announced the delivery of those thermal night vision devices. In this connection, we announce that they are produced by Lithuanian manufacturers and we want to ensure further cooperation. FPV drones are also to be delivered and we have very good manufacturers of such devices. We believe that they will prove to be of help to the Republic of Moldova. We hope to ensure their delivery by the end of this year,” Laurynas Kasčiūnas said at a press conference.

For his part, Minister Nosatyi noted that the visit by his Lithuanian counterpart is a good opportunity to confer on the military cooperation between Moldova and Lithuania and on the support offered in the effort to modernize the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova. It is also a good opportunity to identify new projects.

“As you well know, the Republic of Moldova is in the process of European integration, into an area of peace and well-being. This means not only economic growth, new opportunities for investments, but also the development of all spheres of life, including a modern defense sector, which will provide citizens with security today and tomorrow,” said Anatolie Nosatyi.

The minister also said that the history of cooperation with Lithuania includes a wide range of activities, projects, joint initiatives in the field of expertise and reformation of the defense sector, education, logistics, professional training within multinational exercises. Now the cooperation relations expanded to cover training directions and include support for the training of the National Army sergeants and soldiers, cybersecurity and strengthening of the strategic communication capacity.
