Lithuania provides €750,000 in relief aid to the Republic of Moldova for managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees. A decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet of Lithuania at the suggestion of the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the decision was taken following a telephone conversation of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and her Lithuanian counterpart Ingrida Šimonytė, which centered on the management of the flow of refugees.

The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania Gintarė Skaistė said that Putin’s unprecedented military aggression in Ukraine has forced citizens to flee their homes and seek asylum in the neighboring countries. “One of them, Moldova, is asking for help in the face of a large influx of Ukrainian refugees. Well aware of the difficult situation, the Cabinet is allocating relief aid to address the emergency. We must do everything we can to help people amid Putin’s aggression,” stated Gintarė Skaistė.

According to the latest available data, about 70,000 Ukrainians entered the Republic of Moldova so far, with many of them heading further for other countries.
