Lithuania interested in Moldova’s experience in reforming justice

The Ministry of Justice of Lithuania is interested in the reforms initiated in the justice sector of Moldova and can learn from the relevant experience, Lithuanian Justice Minister Juozas Bernatonis said in a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Oleg Efrim in Vilnius on February 8, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Justice, the Lithuanian official inquired about the package of legislative initiatives concerning the measures to combat corruption promoted by the Moldovan Ministry of Justice and of the new law on the testing of integrity of justice sector players. Juozas Bernatonis referred to the study that is to be carried out to review the judicial map and to the Moldovan Government’s decision of October 2012 concerning the creation of a special subdivision within the Ministry of Justice, which would represent the interests of the state in national and international arbitration courts. In the same connection, Oleg Efrim thanked the Government of Lithuania for the constant assistance provided to Moldova during the last few years, especially in reforming the justice sector. Oleg Efrim has been in Vilnius on an official visit. He took part in the fourth meeting of the joint Moldovan-Lithuanian commission for cooperation in European integration.
