List of persons that will receive apartments in block for refugees will be approved by CMC

The list of persons that will be offered apartments in the block intended for internally displaced people will be approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). A municipal commission will submit the respective list at one of the next meetings of the CMC. But this list will not include the persons that earlier received concessions when purchasing or building dwellings. The Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca tabled a draft decision proposing that the commission that will examine the dossiers for distributing apartments be composed of the leaders of the CMC factions. But the leaders refused to work on a commission, saying that the dossiers should be examined by the City Hall, while the list of persons that will receive apartments should be drawn up by the CMC’s relevant commissions and approved by Council at a meeting. The municipal councillors asked that the list should not include refugees that earlier received dwellings, preferential credits to purchase apartments or plots of land in the municipality on which to build houses. Dorin Chirtoaca expressed his concern over the fact that members of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees, including persons that were earlier allotted plots of land, occupied by force the given block of flats, which is not yet ready. He said that the Transnistrian refugees will be only tenants in the block because it is built from public funds and the apartments cannot be privatized. Recently, the CMC decided to allocate 7.2 mln lei for completing the block with 80 apartments that is located on Ginta Latina Street. The construction started in 2005, financed from the national and municipal budgets. The works are assessed at 33 mln lei. A group of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees occupied the unfinished block a month ago, saying that they do not want to see their apartments appropriated by someone else.
