List of compensated medicines extended

The list of drugs compensated by the state was extended by a new range of medicines designed for treating complicated and rare diseases, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), the drugs are used to treat endocrinal diseases, bronchial asthma, insulin-dependent sugar diabetes type I, epidermolysis bullosa, system and autoimmune diseases, ophthalmological diseases, myasthenia gravis, and mucoviscidosis.

The fully compensated medicines are intended for children aged between 0 and 5, pregnant women, and patients with chronic diseases, namely epilepsy, the Parkinson syndrome and disease, mental disorders, and insulin-independent sugar diabetes type II. The compensated drugs are available from the drugstores contracted by the CNAM based on prescription issued by the family doctor.

Currently, the CNAM compensates about 900 types of drugs, to the value of 192 million lei.
