MP Lilian Carp contends for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) which is led by incumbent Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu.
Lilian Carp was born on October 12, 1978. He is married and has one child.
In 1993, he graduated from the secondary school in Rădeni village of Strășeni district. He later studied at the Technical College in Chisinau. In 2001, he finished the Faculty of History and Ethnopedagogy of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă”. He is a master and doctor of historical sciences.
In 1998-2001, he worked as a teacher at the National Sports Lyceum. In 2002, he started to teach at the State University of Physical Education and Sports and continues teaching there.
In 2009-2014, he headed the office of mayor general of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoacă. In 2011-2014, he served as a Strășeni district council, while in 2012-2014 he sat on the Administration Board of the municipal enterprise “Apă-Canal Chișinău”. In 2013-2019, he headed the Water Polo Federation of Moldova.
In November 2014, he entered Parliament on the ticket of the Liberal Party. In the parliamentary elections of February 2019, he ran on behalf of the ACUM Bloc that consisted of the PAS and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, in single-member district No. 21 Criuleni and won a seat of MP.
He also ran in the snap parliamentary elections of July 2021 on the PAS’ ticket and entered Parliament for the third time. At present, he heads the parliamentary commission on national security, defense and public order.
In November 2022, MP Lilian Carp announced that he joined also the Romanian political party Save Romania Union (USR). According to him, the law does not ban him from being a PAS member and simultaneously an USR member.
For 2022, Lilian Carp declared salaries of MP of 247,621 lei and earnings of 79,890 lei from the State University of Physical Education and Sports. He also declared 172,631 lei salaries obtained by his wife from the same University. The candidate has several bank accounts, including an account at BCR Romania, in which he cumulatively has over 65,000 lei.
The MP owns an apartment of over 90 square meters bought in 2012 based on an investment contract. He declared the apartment’s value at 579,685 lei, noting that its market value is of over 1,200,000 lei. Lilian Carp also owns a car made in 2006, which he purchased in 2021 for over 100,000 lei, and a 30% holding in the meat selling company “Jereasdava” SRL.
In the event to launch his election campaign, PAS’s mayoral hopeful said Moldova needs a capital where every resident can feel comfortable. “I assure you that during my term as mayor general, together with the PAS team, we will make the municipality of Chisinau comfortable, with the integration of all suburbs from social, economic and cultural views,” stated the candidate.
As the draw decided, Lilian Carp of the Party of Action and Solidarity will be the six on the list of candidates on the ballot.
