The latest developments showed that absolutely all the parliamentary parties have discredited themselves and there are doubts as to the legality of their presence in the legislative body. Such an opinion was stated by Lilia Snegureac, who heads the Center “Pro dialog” and is the secretary of the Civil Society Platform “Pro-Europa, in the public debate “What does civil society keep silent about? Views about the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition” that was staged by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova.

“I now consider that all their justifications and statements about the desired European integration are empty. This is my perception. I think all the negotiations are a show as they are all based on blackmail. All the actions and dialogue with civil society were carried out for the sake of appearance. I’m sick and tired of these formalities. Civil society does not keep silent. It is not heard. I doubt that the Strelet Government would have fallen if it had had a different discussion with the people protesting in front of the Government Budding, if it had initiated these discussions,” stated Lilia Snegureac.

The expert noted that both the mass media and the politicians didn’t express interest in the activities of the NGOs. No politician attended the series of debates held in villages, but the citizens there stated very good ideas how the crisis can be overcome and also their wishes.

Lilia Snegureac considers the NGOs must cooperate because they can contribute to governance. But civil society didn’t make effort to promote the active citizens. The cultivation of an active civic spirit should not be sporadic and selective. This must be cultivated including among pensioners because all the pensioners complain about small pensions. Some of them were bought with electoral presents and voted how they voted and now we all support the consequences.

As to the negotiations on the formation of a new government coalition, Lilia Snegureac said this type of negotiations is repugnant to her. “Yes, there are other such examples. There are governments formed by alliance, like in Germany. The last negotiations in this country lasted for 3-4 weeks, but there they discussed subjects of interest for the people. Even if the ministries were also negotiated, the people’s interests prevailed there. I disapprove of the negotiations where the party discipline is put above the people’s interests and where the responsibilities are forgotten” she stated.

The public debate “What does civil society keep silent about? Views about the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition” is the 44th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
