It is time for change in Chișinău and voters should decide who the next mayor will be. The statement was made by Lilia Ranogaeț, the National Liberal Party Chișinău mayoral hopeful, at the "Only one out of many: who and why?" public debates, organized by the IPN Press Agency.

Lilia Ranogaeț said that nothing has been done in Chișinău so far, due to blame shifting - "the municipal councilors blamed the mayor, while the mayor blamed the councilors". The blame shifting carried on, even though the law clearly stipulates the prerogatives of both parties. "The mayor has the obligation to enforce, through the municipal enterprises, the decisions issued by the councilors", said the PNL candidate.

She said that if the incumbents are reelected, then nothing will change in the city. "The councilors that identify as managers, don't have the slightest idea about what management is. A manager must have certain skills, character and the ability to carry processes through, not just plan them”, said Lilia Ranogaeț.

The PNL mayoral hopeful said that many political manipulations are employed during this election campaign. "The votes are not bought, voters are manipulated to vote in a certain way. A form of manipulation consists of demanding to be voted in order to block another candidate from winning, while another form of manipulation employs polling, which boosts certain candidates and hinders others”, said Lilia Ranogaeț.

She said that, as mayor of the capital, her top priority will be the economic dimension. "In my opinion, Chișinău needs economic development", said the PNL candidate.

Lilia Ranogaeț urged voters to detach themselves from slogans and party membership and to vote with their heart.

Teodor Cârnaț, the Political Party "Voința Poporului" candidate, and Dorin Chirtoacă, the Liberal Party candidate , were invited to the first round of debates, however, they did not participate.

The next round of debates is scheduled for October 15 and 16.

The first round of the "Only one out of many: who and why?" electoral debate, which involves the participation of mayoral hopefuls for Chișinău municipality, is the 118th edition of the "Development of political culture in public debates" cycle, supported by the German Foundation Hanns Seidel.
