Each new government promises to take measures to combat corruption, but each of them actually pursue the goal of capturing the state institutions. When these leave, there is nobody who can be held responsible for the made commitments, Transparency International Moldova director Lilia Carasciuc said in the public debate “Why do the crises in Moldova affect the European integration? View of the participants in the General Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Kiev. The Assembly’s Resolution on Moldova”, which was organized by IPN in cooperation with Radio Moldova.

According to Lilia Carasciuc, the political class is trying to delay the fulfillment of the commitments assumed before the European partners so as to achieve their own goals, to capture the institutions. All the governments promised they will adopt a package of anticorruption measures, but didn’t do it. Moreover, owing to the committed acts of corruption, a lot of money that could be invested in Moldova was lost.

The director of Transparency International Moldova said the change of the political class would be a solution for overcoming the current situation, but there are risks here too. Party switching became very popular and there is a risk that the chosen people and parties will later change the configuration of Parliament.

The public debate “Why do the crises in Moldova affect the European integration? View of the participants in the General Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Kiev. The Assembly’s Resolution on Moldova” is the 46th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates”, which are supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
