The Chisinau Appeals Court upheld the life sentence given to two murder authors. In December 2014, one of the individuals, by order of the second, splashed a young woman from Chisinau with acid. This died in several hours.
The defense asked that the life imprisonment imposed by the ordinary court should be quashed and that one of the defendants be acquitted, while the other one be given a milder punishment, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The crime was committed in Rascani district of Chisinau in December 2014. The 29-year-old victim was splashed with acid on her face when she entered the apartment building where she lived. She was hospitalized with severe burns and died several hours later.
Two suspects were arrested the next day – the girl’s boyfriend, who ordered the crime being angry that the young woman intended to go to Dubai to work, and a friend of the man, who accepted to commit the crime for a particular sum of money.
The Chisinau Appeals Court’s decision can be challenged in the Supreme Court of Justice.
