Officers of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of the Interior, together with employees of the Transport Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a police lieutenant-colonel, who asked and took US$1,000 and €10,000 bribe, IPN reports.
The lieutenant-colonel said he can influence officials of Moldova’s Railways to reinstate the denouncer as train chief on the Chisinau - Bucharest route.
The Transport Prosecutor’s Office started a criminal case based on Article 326 (influence peddling) of the Penal Code. The police officer faces up to seven years in jail and a fine of up to 120,000 lei.
