The National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă” stages a series of events as part of the Libraries’ Nocturnal campaign on September 29. Starting at 2pm, those interested are invited to take part in book presentations and sessions of the reading club. A reading workshop will be devoted to children with visual impairments.

Contacted by IPN for details, National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă” director general Eugenia Bejan said the reading workshop intended for vision-impaired children will involve students of the technological Theoretical Lyceum for children with low vision. At the request of teachers and educators, the discussions will focus on how to be courageous, how to defend oneself and how to be vigilant. The children will read adjusted texts together with a librarian counseled by school teachers. An interactive activity based on what will be read will be held later.

At 4pm, there will be staged an event centering on the evolution of audiobooks. The children will be shown vinyl records with tales red by famous actors, audio cassettes with tales.

The festivity to award the participants in the Reading Marathon “Magical Vacation with a Lot of Reading” begins at 5pm. The marathon was staged for the third year during the summer vacation. Readers from primary and secondary schools and lyceums were encouraged to read more library books, to complete a reading journal and to compile rankings of the read books. Over 100 faithful readers of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă” reached the marathon final. Paula Erizanu and Claudia Partole are the special invitees of the festivity.

Eugenia Bejan said that by such events, the community is warned that there is the library that offers different free cultural and informational services that promote reading.

The Libraries Nocturnal is a promotion and awareness-raising campaign organized on the initiative of the Association of Librarians of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and the National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries of Romania. The Libraries Nocturnal 2023 is entitled “Library – Sound – Image –Color”.
