The Balti Court of Appeals is expected to take a decision as regards the validation of the seat of mayor of Chisinau by the end of this week, the Communist Party’s jurist Sergiu Sarbu has told Info-Prim Neo. On the other hand, the Liberal Party’s representative in court Ion Casian said there is a method of appealing the Supreme Court of Justice’s decision to transfer the case to Balti, but didn’t specify if the Liberals will use it. Sergiu Sarbu said he has not been informed when the hearing will take place, but it can be held at any moment. Most probably, the court will pass judgment by this weekend, said the Communist MP. Ion Casian stated for the Agency that the Supreme Court of Justice’s decision to transmit the case from the Chisinau Court of Appeals to the Balti Court of Appeals can be appealed. They can file an application to the Supreme Court of Justice, requesting reviewing the decision. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told the reporters that the Liberal Party’s lawyers will make use of all the legal means available for the case to be returned to the Chisinau Court of Appeals. The Centru district court validated the seat of mayor of Dorin Chirtoaca on June 23, but the Communist Party appealed the decision to the Chisinau Court of Appeals. Afterward, it asked the Supreme Court of Jsutice to transfer the case to the Balti Court of Appeals and its request was granted. The Communists argued that the judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeals take political decisions. Dorin Chirtoaca won the mayoral elections in Chisinau by a narrow margin. His Communist opponent Igor Dodon and the PCRM team dispute the election outcome and demand that the elections be rerun.
