The local organization of the Liberal Party in Chisinau’s Buiucani district joined the Council for Reforming the PL and pleads for the replacement of the party’s administration. The announcement was made in a news conference at IPN.
The organization’s head Ana Vasilachi, ex-deputy minister of labor, social protection and family, said that an ordinary meeting was called on June 11, in accordance with all the statutory norms. Most of those attending the meeting decided to subscribe to the statement of the Council for Reforming the PL and asked convening the party’s Congress in order to reelect the Liberal Party’s administration. The decision was supported by 29 members of the local organization’s Standing Bureau. Two members abstained from voting.
The members of the Standing Bureau condemned the behavior of the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu, describing it as aggressive, while his political actions as unthought-of. The Liberals from Buiucani also condemned Mihai Ghimpu’s attacks on their colleges who joined the Council earlier.
The participants in the June 11 meeting expressed their bewilderment at the behavior of the PL’s first deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca. According to them, Chirtoaca acts like Ghimpu’s nephew, not like a party leader who promotes the interests of the people and of the Liberal Party’s supporters.
Ana Vasilachi underlined that the local organization in Buiucani fully trusts the Council for Reforming the PL and approves of its contribution to overcoming the political crisis and to investing the new Government. Those who held the news conference said they do not want their party to be in the opposition, alongside the Communists.
Anatol Petrencu, a member of the local organization, said that Mihai Ghimpu until now usurped the power in the PL. The members of the Liberal Party found out about appointments to posts from the media as Mihai Ghimpu took decisions without consulting somebody.
The Liberals from Buicani said that if Dorin Chirtoaca refuses to lead the party, they can choose another leader. They proposed calling the PL’s Congress in September.
