The Liberal Party is working on a plan to unite pro-union parties “so that it becomes a healthy and solid foundation for creating a broad unification current in (Moldovan) society”, the party said in a statement.
“The Liberal Party has been and will always remain open to discuss with fellow unionists from other parties with a view to building a durable unionist political construction, in a transparent and honest manner, that puts first our national ideal rather than political ambitions. Proof to that are the countless attempts to consolidate the unionist movement around the PL; to this effect, the PL repeatedly initiated discussions with unionist leaders in the past, with little success”, reads the statement.
The party also says that the unification of the unionists must and can only take place in compliance with democratic standards unanimously recognized in Romania and all over Europe. “Thus, no one has the right to establish in advance where one belongs. This can only be decided by unionist delegates from all corners of Moldova and from the diaspora, at a national convention, through their sincere and direct vote,” states the Liberal Party.
