The Liberal Party (PL) accuses the Communist Party (PCRM) of lacking a good government management. The head of the party, Mihai Ghimpu told a press conference on Friday that in a state based on the rule of law, a good government means first of all the creation of favourable conditions for economic development, a fact ignored by the ruling party, Info-Prim Neo reports. Despite the promises to improve the living standards of the citizens and contribute to the country’s economic growth, PCRM proposes a bill which would lead to deeper economic and social problems, said Mihai Ghimpu, referring to the Government initiative to axe 10,000 government-paid jobs in the following three years. According to Ghimpu, PCRM should adopt another strategy for covering the country’s expenses from GDP resources. The PL leader considers that at present, Moldova should focus on the development of small and medium sized businesses. The Government should also create conditions for foreign investments as well as for supporting local businesses. As Ghimpu put it, to leave so many people unemployed means to worsen the illegal migration. As a consequence, the families and future of the children will be endangered. Ghimpu says that the most painful thing is that the executive’s initiative mainly affects teachers and professors. Around 5,000 of teaching staff will be laid off in less than three years. The Liberal Party asserts that ahead of the 2009 elections the ruling party proposes a plan for the liquidation of those who don’t share the communist ideology, mostly intellectuals. Corina Fusu, head of the PL faction within the Chisinau Municipal Council, said that the method of dismissing public servants is inherited from the Soviet past. “The present-day communists apply the same methods to get rid of free thinkers. They act just like in the 1940’s, when the intellectuals, functionaries and other categories were deported and expropriated”, Corina Fusu pointed out. After taking power in 2001, the Communists in Moldova started purges in the institutions promoting freedom of thought, said Fusu, adding that the Communist government is committing genocide against the intellectuals. Fusu went on to add that the government has learned to use democratic instruments, legislation adjusted to European standards and the recommendations of the international organisations in their own interests, violating thus the citizens’ rights. According to her, all the reforms adopted by the communists thus far are merely fake reorganisations. According to the bill, this year the number of employees remunerated from the state budget will decrease by 3,000, in 2009 – by another 3,000, and in 2010 – 4,000 budget earners will remain jobless. Thus the Government tries to get rid of 10,000 employees it pays, which is 4.2% of the total number.
