The Liberal parliamentary group may vote in favor of the bill on equal opportunities. The group’s leader Ion Haradca said that the Moldovan Metropolitan Church is in favor of this bill and the Liberal Party supports this position, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I understood that the bill is backed by the Moldovan Metropolitan Church and we then asked ourselves whom priest Marchel represents. If the clergy accepted the refined version of the bill, the polemics, attacks and attempts to associate the Liberal Party with pariahs that have a different opinion than that of the Metropolitan Church are useless,” said Ion Hadarca. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said that everything will be fine and the draft law will be adopted by the parliamentary majority. “This bill did not offer and will not offer new legal conditions for legalizing marriages between persons of the same sex and adoption of children by such families,” he stated. Earlier, the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that their final decision on the antidiscrimination bill will be made public after the meeting of the party’s National Council that will take place this weekend.
