Liberal-Democratic lawmaker Veaceslav Ionita said the bills for which the Government assumed political responsibility contain a number of schemes by which public money could be appropriated. He referred to only one of the 11 adopted bills, stating that over 1 billion lei would be embezzled from the state budget by a scheme to set up phantom companies, which this bill provides. He said he will speak about other cases afterward. The head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said these statements are aberrant and Veaceslav Ionita is angry because he didn’t manage to fulfill someone’s order, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Veaceslav Ionita said he understood that there was opposition to adopting the amendments to the state budget, mainly from Valeriu Strelet, and he even called on the opposition to vote for the bills allowing increasing the salaries and bonuses to pensions. Afterward, he found out about the Government’s decision to assume responsibility for a number of laws, but this is rather ‘buffoonery’.
“It was a tactic. They pretended to be taking steps to increase the pensions and salaries, but July 22 is actually a black day as the Governemnt that day assumed responsibility for a series of schemes to appropriate public funds,” stated Veaceslav Ionita.
The Liberal-Democratic lawmaker, who is not a member of the Liberal-Democratic Party, said that the bill on mortgage institutes a mechanism for creating phantom companies with which the commission on economy, budget and finance that he heads struggled until now. The initiative only reached the commission and, if he had had time to analyze it, it surely wouldn’t have been adopted. The MP said he informed the Head of Parliament and the President about the dangers posed by this law.
In another news conference, the head of the Liberal-Democratic faction Valeriu Strelet said that he is trying to understand the reasons that made his faction colleague to say such things and presumed that he was probably tired or disappointed that he didn’t manage to fulfill the master’s command. But he gave no names yet.
“These statements are aberrant and contain many lies. We will have discussions and will take decisions concerning him, even if he is not a party member. The package of laws was discussed by the whole Pro-European Coalition and coordinated with all the development partners. Ionita lied when he said that there were reports on other documents. I cannot explain his behavior. If he considers himself wiser than the whole coalition and than civil society and the development partners, it is a clinical case that must be treated,” stated Valeriu Strelet.
The Government assumed political responsibility for a package of 11 bills last week. They were to be promulgated by the head of state last weekend.
