The leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party from Moldova (PLDM) has officially announced it started the electoral campaign. The announcement was made on September 27 in Balti at the second congress of PLDM, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from a communique of the party. “Starting from today, PLDM enters the campaign for the 2009 elections,” the party's president , Vlad Filat, stated. “Moldova will get out of the black period having marked the beginning of this century, as the PLDM team will enter history as a generation of politicians who have steered Moldova on the path of normality and have returned the citizen the feeling of freedom and dignity,” Vlad Filat stated. PLDM says it actively works on preparing its lists for the parliamentary elections, including the structure of a Lib-Dem Cabinet. The PLDM leader ensures the first action of the ruling PLDM will be a referendum to modify the Constitution so that the President of the country is elected by direct vote. In the wake of adjusting to the new Law on parties, the Congress attendees adopted modifications to the PLDM's statute. The Congress adopted its political declaration voicing PLDM's view on the situation in the country. “PLDM's have the goal to create a democratic political system, with a responsible political elite offering pragmatic and sustainable solutions for the country's future, and this future can be ensured only through Moldova's European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” the statement reads. 547 delegates of the territorial organizations of the party attended the congress, said to represent over 23,000 PLDM members and 195 invitees.
