The Court of Appeals Chisinau banned holding the LGBT parade in the Great National Assembly Square, but allowed staging it at the Summer Theater in the Park “Valea Morilor”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The association GenderDoc-M lodged an application with the Chisinau City Hall on March 23, informing that LGBT representatives intend to stage a parade in the central square on May 2 and asking that the local authorities ensure public order and the protection of the about 50 participants, who will include members and volunteers of the organization and invitees of the Festival “Rainbow over the Nistru.”
Afterward, a number of organizations, institutions and private individuals submitted complaints and petitions to the City Hall, demanding banning the sexual minorities from holding the planned event, the City Hall says in a press release.
In a recent news conference, the assistant of GenderDoc-M's Lobby and Advocacy Program Angela Frolov said that if the association is not allowed to stage the parade, the organizers will appeal the decision to a higher court and the ECHR.
