The Romanian side has decided to close the Leușeni-Albița border crossing to trucks due to heavy snowfall and slippery roads.
Meanwhile, the Moldovan Customs Service has warned that traffic conditions on the national roads can worsen due to the blizzard and strong winds, advising motorists to avoid hitting the road.
A code-orange severe weather advisory is in place across the country after a southern cyclone encountered a mass of artic air. Most of the snowfall is forecast for Monday, as the cold spell will continue until midweek.
